Visakhapatnam: A contract for the construction of eight missile-cum-ammunition barges (MCA) has been signed between the Indian Navy and SECON, a multi-discipline, zero-debt engineering company in Visakhapatnam. The contract concluded on February 19. The barges will be delivered from July next year.
The MACs will be inducted into the Navy to undertake the mission needs for embarking/disembarking missiles, gunnery and ASW (anti-submarine warfare) ammunition. The project is considered yet another milestone under the Make in India initiative of the central government.
